Department Board

The Department Board, pursuant to Article 39 of the Statute of Autonomy of the University of Sassari, is the department's planning and management body.

The Department Council is convened by the Director either on their own initiative or upon request by at least one third of its members.

Functions

Deliberates on the use of resources, facilities, and equipment assigned to the Department

Approves, upon proposal by the Director, planning and reporting documents

Adopts the regulations of the Department, of any interdepartmental structures, the Doctoral School, and the Specialization Schools

Adopts the overall development plan for research and teaching

Requests the initiation of procedures for faculty recruitment and proposes appointments

Approves the educational offering plan, including the request to establish, activate, deactivate, or discontinue degree programs

Assigns teaching responsibilities to faculty members and deliberates on the coverage of the activated courses

Supervises, in general, the proper functioning and quality of research and teaching activities

Approves the triennial reports on the scientific and teaching activities of the faculty

Provides opinions on leave requests for study or scientific research submitted by affiliated faculty members

Promotes the internationalization of scientific research and educational offerings

Approves interdepartmental research programs, based on agreements between the relevant Departments

Submits an annual report on its activities to the Board of Administration and the Academic Senate

Exercises any other functions assigned to it by law, the Statute, and the regulations

Composition

Department Director

Faculty members affiliated with the Department

Representatives of the technical-administrative staff assigned to the Department, in the proportion of one for every twenty faculty members

Representatives of students enrolled in bachelor's and master's degree programs, equal to 15 percent of the Council's members, serving a two-year term

Representative of adjunct faculty, serving a one-academic-year term, elected by their peer group

Representative of research fellows, serving a one-year term, elected by their peer group

Department Administrative Manager, with advisory (non-voting) status

Representative of postgraduate specialization students and PhD candidates, serving a two-year term, elected by both categories
